Acoustic Typography Posters

This project explored how typography alone could communicate the sound and character of music. Working within the constraint of creating the posters entirely from type, I used individual letters and characters as graphic elements to build and mimic shapes, while also layering and manipulating type to create depth and painterly compositions. I experimented with composition, color, and the visual relationships between letterforms to translate the qualities of each song into a visual form.
Moodboards
Developed moodboards drawing inspiration from artists, album artwork, and visual styles to establish a direction for each poster.
Original Designs
I originally created the three posters as a class project, but revisited them about a year later to evaluate and refine the designs. Returning to the work with a more developed perspective allowed me to identify areas that could be strengthened and revise the original compositions, with changes ranging from minor adjustments to a more significant reworking of one design.
